OEM rear shock part numbers for leaning van

Postby Funkyjazzlover » Mon Aug 01, 2022 10:02 am

I noticed our van leaning/listing while parked the other day and a quick measure shows the OS rear shock is sagging 15mm more than the NS. The van's just hit 150k so it's hardly surprising.

However, when looking at replacements (I've been looking at Bilstein B4s) it seems there's a few lengths available. To make sure I get the right length, what's the easiest way of getting the OEM shock part number?

Van is a 2015 L2H3 4x4 350 125ps (remapped to 180bhp and converted to camper, should that make a difference).

Shock absorbers do not affect ride height,
If it’s leaning, either you have it loaded uneven or it’s the road springs that dictate ride height.

The shock absorbers doesn’t control the ride hight it’s just a damper it’s your spring that is getting weak or you have more weight on that side of the van .

I didn’t want the OP to buy new shockers and be in exact same position.
Literally

Thanks gents. I mountain bike and have set-up suspension plenty of times - I should know this.

Van does have a kitchen unit on the offside, but that's essentially it - the rest of the weight is fairly well spread so I'd be surprised if that's the sole cause.

It's going to the garage Weds - I'll get it on the ramps for a better look at springs and supporting hardware.
