Hope this helps others with Dpf issues (Fault code P244C)

Postby carlburt78 » Mon Oct 31, 2022 5:58 pm

Had the "Engine Malfunction " message yesterday so plugged in Forscan as soon as I got home and got a code of P244C which read Exhaust temperature to low for a regeneration, my immediate thought was dread as the van was booked in for Mot the following day, anyway last time I got this message my DPF ended up blocking and the garage said it needed replacing which I did ....so thinking my DPF was blocking up I done a static regen that completed but said soot levels are still to high . Worried about my Mot I looked over wires ect and all was ok so I ended up taking the vaporiser out which I bought new last year and found that it was completely blocked with carbon  I cleaned the carbon out using a sharp knife refitted it and the Van's regeneration completed and soot levels dropped :D I pulled the vaporiser out of my old DPF in my shed and guess what? That was also blocked so I basically bought a new Dpf when all I needed to do was unblock the vaporiser! Just thought I'd put this to help others with the P244C code , hope this helps......Oh and van passed MOT with flying colours :)

No coz I was in a mega rush , but i removed the Vaporiser without removing the Dpf, From under the van using an open ended 22mm spanner, I didn't remove the fuel line or electrical connector, it was a 15 minute job the carbon came out easily just using the end of a sharp kitchen knife

This was a blocked vaporizers for me too. The blocked dpf also blew a weld on the exhaust flexi, causing a wizzing/howling noise from the drivers side of the engine bay, which was a lot more noisy in the vehicle than outside.

You know what I have had the same very issue, and I have spent far too much on this issue and have had specialist Diesel workshops working on it. Yes I did need a new DPF as it seemed previous owner had drilled some holes here and there but the big issue is usually the Vaporizer and sadly the Glowplug and jet diesel combo of this unit is what is causing most issues, Just follow ORielly on YTube and see how many clean DPF he does and also follows up with the vaporizer overhaul. Glad your sorted and thankfully so am i (For Now)
