Front suspension height 350 vs 470

Postby Mbcltd » Tue Nov 15, 2022 6:32 pm

Hi all,

I have a 2020 350 l3, and have installed heavy duty rear springs,
Now she has quite a rake, so wondering if the 470 transit front struts are bigger/taller?
I know new transits have the option of a heavy duty front axle, but mot a clue what this entails or if it gives a higher ride height at the front?

Any help appreciated

Thanks

I can measure the front ride hight on my 460 x bus when it’s light if that’s any use .On my mk6 jumbo I fitted 470 struts springs and rear springs and dampers when I did it it weighed 28000 kgs as a part loaded camper and it lifted the rear 2 inches at the rear the front didn’t look much different maybe about a inch but I didn’t measure the front .

That would be much appreciated, thank you.

The standard rake on mine was quite alot, so I raised my front 40mm to level it out,
Done a camper conversion which now weighs 3000kg, so put 3+1 leafs on the back to beef it up due to the extra weight, and it's raised the back another 2.5 inches
So now need to raise the front again

Height measurements are always better if taken from center or edge of the wheel so differences on tire size/wear don't affect the measurements.

32000km! Thats a fat ass Transit!

Cheers,

Yes I thought it was a truck :D as for ride hight when I’ve set up rally cars always done it that way as for the front it is on brand new tyres and the rear is on same tread depth .when I built my camper I made sure it stayed as near as possible to being equal on all 4 corners the same when I load it up the 1/2 difference on the front is due to adblue and diesel tanks are full .
