MK8 Eco blue vacuum pump siezed ? Need help

Postby Rob-transit » Tue Nov 28, 2023 4:32 pm

Just found the cause of the transit 2.0 eco blue not starting . The vacuum pump has seized causing the belt on the exhaust side to jump about 6 teeth . The valves looks fine but it broke slightly two of the exhaust roller rockers not in pieces just cracked in the middle . My problem here is would it be enough to spin the lobe on the exhaust camshaft Should i try and fit the old cam carrier ?

Usually vacuum pump seized is due to oil pan strainer getting clogged with cambelt fragments so... You should check the oil sump first.

Cheers,

First thing i did was take the sump off not much pieces of belt in the stainer It was not too bad and the belt looks in good condition . It did not break which i find usual as the vacuum is seized solid .Belt has never been changed and the mileage is 112k . I have ordered a new cam carrier too much work if the cam lobe had moved .
