Turbocharger Actuator

Postby Lee2121 » Wed Nov 12, 2025 2:07 pm

Hi

I need to replace the Turbocharger actuator which after watching a lot of YouTube video showing me the wrong location I'm now informed on my van it is attached to the turbo. Does anyone have any experience with replacing this and one thing i found online is that the ECU might need plugging into a computer after i have replaced the actuator, does anyone know if this is indeed the case?

My van is as follows.

Ford Transit 2025 (minibus) 2.2 diesel - 460 Trend H/R Bus 17 STR

Series: MK8 (V363)

123.3 BHP

Engine Code: USR6

a quick search here, says they don't need calibrating .. i could be wrong

how to ID which one you need

https://www.ecutesting.com/product-cata ... tor-turbo/

and how do you know its the turbo actuator at fault when you're uncertain of identifying it

a lot of turbo boost leaks are down to the EGR

common form of actuator fail is stripped plastic gears within it .. this is something you don't find out with diagnostic software. well not unless you've spent a lot of time knowing how to interperate the results on many transits

thank you Mark.

I was told when the van went to a garage for diagnostics will be interesting to see when the actuator is changed if the problem will come back.

yes they are all attached to the turbo, but the rear wheel drive is more complicated than the front wheel drive. the rear wheel drive involves removing the turbo as it is mounted underneath it and cannot be removed institute like it can on the FWD. after fitting it does need calibrating with diagnostic equipment.

This is proving to be very tricky, i can now see and touch the actuator but looks like turbo needs to come off. does anyone have any links to a video maybe that shows the process as all of the video i can find are not for this version and the turbo seems to be in a much more accessible part of the engine than the version which i have.

Telling us if RWD of FWD, drive that would help with your answers

All i can tell you, in situations where it's bad access, that it sometimes helps to support engine, take mounts off .. and tilt engine .. take wheels off or remove wheel arch liners.

Hey, did you manage to get the actuator replaced without removing the turbo in the end? Curious as I need to replace the actuator on mine too. Also a MK8 RWD, and yeah all the videos I've seen are from slightly different variants where you can get to it really easily. Sods law I have the one that is more of a pain
