Ford Transit electric side step removal

Hi is it possible to fully remove a ford transit electric side step and replace it with a fixed side step?

It should be easy to remove it mechanically as on my previous van I had it removed, stripped and cleaned as it was sticking but you may have problems removing it electrically I’d read somewhere that someone had electrical problems and had it removed it in the bcm and reinstalled to cure a problem I had another problem with mine that a ford update was supposed to cure but didn’t

The ford sidestep problem of not closing properly or taking forever to open i resolved quite easily, under the sidestep are 2 hinged arms 1 electrically powered and the other 2nd one connected to the first, when not in perfect condition or out of alignment they get tighter and tighter, the answer is to remove the 2nd arm totally and cutting the long step by about a third, re attatch the newly cut step to the middle of the the electic hinged arm, mine works a treat and is twice as fast opening and closing.
