Twin wheel tipper rear brake disc replacement.

Hi everyone. I’m going to change my rear discs next week. I’ve had the wheels off and had a look today.
After I’ve taken the half shaft out, it looks like I can take the back plate off and remove the disc bolts.
Should be able to leave the hub alone then.

Wondered if anyone else could advise, and what to beware of.

Does the half shaft have a seal / gasket or would it need a smear of silicone ?

I’m over 70 so I got mine done at a local garage so not done one myself but they had to remove the hub as the disc is bolted on the inner side of the hub and the hub nut is a special socket the nut is reusable once or twice but can let go when torqued up one of mine went because it cracked 3 of the reluctor abs rings two on the o/s/r and 1 n/s/r

I can see the bolt heads in the inside when I took the back plate off.

Looking at a disc photo yes they are bolted on from the back but they will not go over the hub the garage that did mine was originally my apprentice so wouldn’t try to tell me it was a bigger job then it was

I just did both of mine on a 2015 twin rwd minibus ( now a campervan). I didn't remove the hubs as the bolts come out from behind when you remove the shield, you have to align the disc by turning it by about 10 degrees, left or right, so the castellations and matching indents line up. I then tapped the disc from behind ( took a while, due to rust), then remove the disc, clean up hub area (careful near the sensor), refit everything. Mine was time consuming, but not too difficult.
I had a reluctor/tone ring snap a couple of years ago and had to remove the hubs, so had an idea of how things went.
I'm no expert, but it worked for me and van has just passed an advisory free MOT.

Sorry looking like I was wrong it was only when the reluctor ring was removed when he removed the hub as previously post give it a try before removing the hub
