P2599:00

Our transit 2.2 2015 RWD 142,000 miles keep kicking up a code P2599:00 Turbocharger Boost Control Position
Sensor #A Performance - Stuck High and then going into limp mode its doing it most days now. Do a restart and it clears the fault. Did some checks this afternoon with our Thinkcar scanner while it was in limp mode and the Boost Pressure Actuator Bank 1 - Desired Position(%) 25% and Boost Pressure Actuator Position - Measured was 24.68 neither of those reading were moving and it would not rev over 3500. Cleared the codes and the boots pressure was then going up to 75% depending the revs. Does it point to the turbo or the actuator. Fitting a recon turbo 4 years ago at 105,000 miles. Dont want to fit another turbo if that not the issue could we just replace the actuator. Has anyone got any pointers where we can go with this now my wife and daughter are giving me grief asking me to get it fixed.

After checking wiring and plugs

Your turbo has a vane type actuator and operates through a stepper motor and gearbox ..
Common failure modes
1. Gearbox can fail with plastic gears stripping
2. Actual vane actuator can stick....and may go on to strip the gearbox gears. i don't know how to free the actuator .. it will be carbon that needs to be removed

Video is a 2.4 transit .. but same basic idea, hes checking to see if the arms move the vanes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEIjeOoRHug

if free .. you go onto check the gearbox for stripped gears

i cant find any specific transit ones on this .. there are videos for other cars and vans .. you can look them up.

if any above found defective, garages would probably just replace the lot, turbo plus actuator and gearbox .. at 142,000 miles.. you should consider that if any one item of the turbo set up found defective ..

Thank you Mark. The turbo was replaced ay 105,000 so has done 37,000 miles., Will have to see if the actuator moves easily.
