HeadLamps

Postby chopperlamb » Fri Nov 15, 2019 9:12 pm

Hello,
Has anyone got any recommendations as what to replace the H7 headlamp bulbs with? I'm finding the current standard lights not that good on dark country lanes. I've seen different types of H7 bulbs which say give up 50% brighter - not sure if they do, if they are worth the money. I've also seen LED's but they seem to say not for public roads and costing £120.
Cheers
Andy

This is the only decent led available at the moment, https://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/11972ULWX ... light-bulb , if you want to stay 100% legal, then Osram Night Breakers are your best bet https://www.powerbulbs.com/product/osra ... on-h7-twin

Will those https://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/11972ULWX ... light-bulb
leds fit in 2014 custom? Even so the bulbs dust/water covers fit in place? Does the car give any faults, like broken headlight? I liked to fit those to my projector type low beams.

Just gone night breakers from eurocar parts on dipped beam.

Not sure how long they will last but they are a marked improvement on the ones that were in.

Cleaning lense helped see my post ! But I don’t think yours will be that bat on an 18 plate.

My 18 plate facelift has got the HID's and in all honesty they're rubbish, definitely worse than the older projectors with good bulbs!

Unfortunately Ford fitted the lower output 25w D5S bulbs which avoided them having to fit headlamp washers.

When I first got it I was pretty pleased but now I’ve driven it more in the dark they really are junk, if anyone is thinking of spending to upgrade them on a new van my advice is dont bother. I wonder if I can replace/upgrade the bulbs to 35W or higher or am I stuck?

The D5S has an internal ballast so I think you're screwed. I did see an led drop in replacement for them but it didn't look like something that I'd want to buy.

I thought I saw a 35w version of the D3s, (when I was looking for D5s 35w bulbs)

Would they not fit in the same holder, or would you need an uprated ballast :?: :?

The ballast is on the bulb, that’s the issue.
