Hi all new to this... So got my new 5 seat dciv custom after few months wait and must say it’s a very nice machine. I have a few gripes the main one being is motorway rpm. At 70mph has 2250rpm which seems high to me and will be thirsty. Mate tells me his manual 130 sits at 1800rpm at 70 and 2000rpm at 80. I appreciate autos use wee bit more juice but seems like massive difference in gear ratios? Other main gripe is carpet in the cab, it will get wrecked! Anyone got a good solution for covering the arches and such, recommend good rubber mats? Apart from that it’s surprised me how good the auto is, not great uphill at motorway speeds using cruise control but very easy to live with and I can’t be arsed changing gear! Ordering the old fake leather seat covers to protect from mucky plumbers be good to get steer on that too....
Hmmm interesting that, i am awaiting my new sport auto and if the ratios are way out that will indeed have a knock on with fuel economy. I was averaging around 34 on my last 155 sport driving normally and unloaded most of the time (leisure vehicle)
Not a auto but I changed the diff from a 3.1 to 3.7 and overall it’s about the same if not slightly better maybe because I am using 6 th gear on 50 mph roads instead of 5 th and on motorways not driving faster when in no rush to stop having to keep dropping a gear on hills are you sure your van is running in top gear all the time .The transmission company who did the conversion has a 4x4 with the same gearbox set up and says if he drives in full automatic it’s up and down the gears all the time and is better on fuel in manual.my other thought of changing mine is it’s going to be easier on the dpf not clogging up with not running at to low revs My mpg for a 460 is 28 to 32 mpg now the same as my old mk6 jumbo 135 .

Hi mate and welcome. I've had these in my 67 plate van from new - but the link below gives you the post-2019 versions. Three years of construction sites, and no significant signs of wear at all - really durable. They fix directly to the existing floor studs so it's a 2-minute job. Whip them out once in a while, a quick blast with a pressure washer and they're good as new;
Hi All Thanks for the tip on mats.. Spoke to ford service and they said the rpm sounds around normal. Spoke to remap guys and they say nothing can be done if it’s the gearing Like I said it drives well enough but I’m used to my previous auto cars being more economical on the motorway than local roads not the opposite Only 2 fills around 64Litres got 450miles first tank and got told about the eco button hoping to get around 500miles don’t want drive like my old girl everywhere though!
my 130 auto says 34.5 on the dash readout, i calculated it as 32 doing a tank fill to tank fill and the ford app sends me messages saying im doing 32.5, happy days
half laden all the time , 50-50 A roads and town driving,and i keep to speed limits
I reckon nursing it I will see 500miles to 64Litres so around 35mpg. If I hit that then seems decent for an auto van of its size. I still say that if the high end auto ratio was close to a manual it would show a significant improvement in economy. I read the the normal transits can have a 10speed auto I’m sure that would do it! I’m happy with around town performance it’s just the motorway that bothers me, how does the 130 auto sit at 70mph?
Your van is new and will still be tight!! I purchased my manual L2 dciv 130 almost 2 years ago with 35 miles on the clock, and it was doing about 28-30 mpg, after about 6-7K on the clock the mpg started increasing and now it returns 37-38.
This is a bit of a strange one, the op says that the van is low geared, but it struggles on motorway inclines, in my higher geared 155 I never felt it struggle on any motorway incline, even at the top end of the M6. So for a higher powered, lower geared van to struggle is odd to say the least. BUT the op hasn’t said if it’s fully loaded?
I guess it’s fair to say I need to give motor a chance to bed in it’s only on 1200 miles,I’d be well happy with 37 mpg though Sorry I didn’t explain myself very well, it doesn’t struggle on motorway hills what I meant was your better off dropping cruise control as it drops a gear as if accelerating hard but it’s a nice box. I’m guessing I’ve no more than around 250kg of tools and plumbing shite on board Selling the family motor now this will do both jobs looking forward to chucking bikes and tent in the back get the bbq and beers on the go soon!
