2015 2.2 as above sump off time? Van sounds fine. Pics attached

No, that cut out is supposed to be there with the cross hatched marks to better sea the oil. It's easy to see when dirty, but fresh oil isn't

It looks like the dipstick is been rattling around in it's guidance.....

Thanks for the reply but i think there is something else going on will take sump off tomorrow and check.
The pic isn't clear enough to show the random nicks took out of it lets hope its something simple. :?

Got you, yeah the scoring may just be friction from the guide tube and rattling around a bit, but the deeper chunks missing are strange. Can't think what would cause it inside the sump as it seems a bit far fetched that it would be hitting the crank shaft unless it's incorrect and too long. Only other explanation is that it's not the original or it's been damaged when removed previously.....

yes its strange :? but i have owned the van for last 4 years and and only noticed that tonight can only think theres a piece of metal ricocheting around sump :!: lets hope not :cry:

Ihmo it can't be a loose piece: al the scorings have a shalow and a steep side, which are consistent around the circumference. A loose piece would make random dents and not abrasions.

Please keep us informed, this is very interesting :shock:

100% right it was just rattling around the dipstick tube and guidance tube :o
First transit I will have to replace dipstick due too wear. live and learn I suppose.
