2.2 new enginge or repairable? 2015 100ps transit custom

Postby chooseatransit » Sat Jan 15, 2022 5:09 pm

Hi everyone i was driving with cruise on at 70mph when my van cutout with service engine now warning.
P0341 camshaft sensor invalid signal and codes for 3 individual glow plugs were only codes so tested camshaft sensor but it was fine.
Just took rocker cover off and with van in gear and jacked up and turning front wheels to discover that the camshafts are not turning :( and crank is So chain snapped
So to sum up is the engine toast or repairable? from anyone's past experience  .

Thanks in advance for replys James

How were you turning the wheels?

Eldest daughter and mrs either side. crank was turning as oil pump was pumping oil over rockers :(

OK,
I only asked because if only one wheel was turned the differential would spin the other wheel opposite and not turn the engine, but you have sussed that :)

Usual consensus for damage is to top end rocker ladder assembly (stripped hold down bolts) etc, and of course a decent timing chain kit.

Hopefully 'other' Guys will advise further and there are multiple cases with solutions to be found via searching.

Well stripped it down today chain has indeed snapped but it appears no damage to rocker assembly and all valves appear same height with straight edge across them :? Surely there would be damage somewhere?
Try a new chain and try I suppose :?

is it these engines where the lobes on the camshafts spin under pressure as opposed to pistons valves and conrods damage, or was it a dream
