What brand were these ? I Cant find any 245/40 that are 100 or above at a reasonable price

Nankang. Fitted today and all seems good. No catching of the arches even on bouncy/bumpy roads. Just need to sell the 275/40's now!

I hit a massive pot hole at the weekend which resulted in a damaged wheel and a tyre with an egg bubble in the side....

The tyres fitted had a 99 XL rating so just bought another one exactly the same....I have been driving around for a year with 99XL with no problems until now.

How do you know what the correct load rating is?

Its the axle load rating of the van , the absolute minimum is 99 front and 100 rear as far as I know, Insurance no no if you have an accident as I think its a common way for them to not pay out.

How badly was the wheel damaged ?

Following this as I am looking at swapping out my 17s for 18s or 20s.

The profile discussion on page 2... this might help you out a bit.https://www.tyresizecalculator.com/. I'm sure you know, but the profile is a percentage of the width, so it isnt as simple as bigger profile number equals more sidewall. 274/40 is 110mm. Quite a lot of sidewall, but might be a big varience from the stock size the speedo and traction control are set to.

If you're not sure, check it on the calculator. You put the current wheel and tyre size in, select the new wheel size and you will get a selection of tyres that will fit, and even better, you can see the speedo difference. Rather handy!

Sorry if I'm teacing anyone to suck eggs, which I expect I might be...

Hi. New to this forum after selling my converted T6 and plumping for a Transit Custom this time around! So still learning!

Can I just ask about these 20" wheels - they seem to fit really nicely. Has this van been lowered too? Or has it just had new wheels and tyres?

Also... when I lowered and put 18" wheels on my old T6, I had to add spacers too to make them fit better in the wheel arch... has anyone done that? Or not needed if I buy the right wheels?

Finally, the tyres I ran last time, and thought were great were 235/55/R18s. Has anyone ran these on a transit custom and can tell me whether they fit fine?

Thanks.
