wobble in 2nd and 3rd gear

Recently purchased a 2019 plate transit custom limited
When I’m driving there’s a slight wobble in 2nd and 3rd gear on acceleration and carries on thru very slightly to 5th gear then goes by 6th gear just had brand new alloys fitted so not them
Is this a common thing any one got the same?

Quick update
Drivers side driveshaft replaced recently at Ford garage
There wet oil on gearbox sump not dripping or anything just wet underneath

it's leaking out of the seals for gearbox by the looks of things....

possible causes .
1.Seals already worn before driveshafts were replaced. on higher mileage vehicles seals should be replaced with the driveshafts as a matter of course.
2.Seals were damaged whilst installing driveshafts.
3. Oil is dripping from higher up somewhere, unlikely because the oil is quite clean.
4, They have lubed seals with clean oil during installation and forgot to clean up after themselves - wipe oil off , go for a trip ..and see if it re-appears, if it does then it's 1, 2 or 3
5. Seals will bed in after 200 miles so and stop dripping - debatable, but it happens.


Don't understand what you mean by wobble

Could you mean steering wheel wobble. - Which means you need the tracking looked at and/or the wheels balanced, balancing should have been done during tire installation...you need to go back and have them look at the wheel balance problem.

Oil leak was a seal so that’s been done
They’re was slight play in passenger side driveshaft also replaced
The wobble has got better after this but still there on acceleration in 2nd and 3rd gear
Wheels are all perfectly balanced
Tracking is slightly out going to drivers side
The wobble it self is on accelerating only and the whole van wobbles
Can’t be felt thru steering tho

I don't think I've ever had a wobble on a vehicle ..that is not felt through the steering wheel
Maybe its been in a smash and the chassis bent, or you need new anti roll bar bushings at rear and 4 wheel tracking done (don't think it's adjustable, but will find out if anythings not right) and find out if its the rear that is the problem.

Hi all
Tracking done tonight and wheels all properly balanced but wobble still there
It’s thru all gears apart from 1st but easing off after 4th gear
Very annoying!!!!
Vans only done 40,000 miles on a 19 plate underneath is very clean but I’m a bit lost
Also one I’m at a constant speed the wobble is very light and can be felt but second u put power down it’s there’s
Can be slightly felt thru steering aswell
And also forgot to say I do have 20 inch alloys brand new ones
Only had the van 3 weeks

I'd be looking at the 20" alloys and maybe the tyres. Defects happen in manufacture.

Quick update
20 inch alloys have gone and have been replaced with some brand new original Ford custom limited 16 inch alloys
Totally transformed the drive of the van but dreaded wobble is still there but only half as bad now can just about feel it lol

well if the smaller wheels made the wobble less .......then its bushings, ball joints etc.
You're going to have to get under it with a crow bar , and start pushing and levering to see where the "play" is.

If the whole van ‘wobbles’ and only when your accelerating,
It’s likely the inner driveshaft CV joint,if you’ve had one side done,either it wasn’t that side at fault,or they were both worn.
I’d be checking or replacing the other driveshaft / CV.

Ok thanks for the reply
Would the cv joint happen in all gears tho
In first gear it’s fine
Second and third is the worst
Then eases off 4,5,6
Really frustrating tho as I’ve changed the wheels and passenger side and inner driveshaft
Drivers side one never been done
Mechanic was underneath it for a day and couldn’t see anything else that would make it wobble

No there’s a very slight wobble whilst driving but can hardly be felt
But second u apply the acceleration it’s wobbles straight away
