Spot the bolt - Odd question

Postby dm3lions » Mon Mar 27, 2023 10:04 am

Morning all,

2015 Transit Custom owner here.

I was driving down my road after a long journey at the weekend and heard a metallic noise from under the van.

Both the passenger and I thought we had probably just run over something on the road.

We checked and found this BUFO 8.8mm bolt which looks substantial enough to be concerned about if it fell off the van.

I can't see anywhere obvious it may have come from but just wondered if it looked familiar to any Transit afficionados on the site please?

The only thing I have found so far is a Transit Witter towbar bolt but ours looks fine.

Apologies if its a stupid question, I am ignorant of such things but don't want the van becoming unsafe.

Cheers

8.8 just points out that it is high tensile grade bolt .

The length suggests to me ..that it may be from an alternator bracket, ac compressor or a cross member mounting. but not necessarily your vehicle.
