The window switch on my drivers door went bad the other day.
The drivers window closed but wouldn't open, the passenger side still worked ok off the drivers side switch.
The loom into the "A" pillar has been repaired by someone at sometime as it's been taped up.
I could hear a "ticking" behind the drivers door card, like a relay switching on and off.
I pulled the switch from the door card and unplugged it as it felt warm to the touch.
I took it apart, the passenger window switch is a toggle switch that clicks as you move it.
The drivers window switch is 4 rubber buttons that contact pads on the PCB, a bit like in remote controls for a TV.
These I cleaned using IPA and it has fixed the issue I had.
The actual switches you move do have a click from the spring mechanism inside.
I don't think there are any relays in the door itself.
If you have access to forscan, you could try using that to look for switch activation and also remotely work the windows.
That should give you a insight as to whether it's a power issue into the drivers door or a canbus issue from the switch.
It definately seems like a broken wire in the "A" pillar loom though and using forscan will point you to the correct wire colour.
