Cruise control switch

Postby Unrealsimon » Mon Oct 14, 2024 10:36 pm

2014 trend, I’m have issues with the cruise control switch, sometimes it works but not always. Guessing it’s the contacts. Tried blowing through and it helped for a bit. Can the switch be taken apart to clean it or is it sealed? Aliexpress, have them for the Kuga which uses the same switch, anyone used one?

just done a quick search of these forums - seems like the clutch pedal switch and the brake light switch have influence over the cruise control ,...so worth checking these first - me thinks.

Thanks Mark, yes I've checked them and they seem OK.

well you've a choice to make as regards stripping it and repairing it .

I don't know what's inside your cruise control switch assembly ..
if its old school its ...just a housing of plastic that has to be carefully levered apart, shoving screw drivers against holes with plastic tags sticking through them..then inside, there will be springs, bent bits of brass and plastic moving parts .

if new school ..a micro-switch and and electronic board inside that communicates with the PCM

or spend £13 or there abouts on a brand new one off ebay

Note: two different designs, found on ebay, so do your research.

or another thing

if you've not read the owners manual, about how it operates and under certain circumstances ..wrong gear ..other button pressed, traction control etc .. maybe not meant to function.!

Thanks Mark, I think I’ll just tear into it and see what’s what. Worst that can happen is I completely bugger it up!
