well you've a choice to make as regards stripping it and repairing it .
I don't know what's inside your cruise control switch assembly ..
if its old school its ...just a housing of plastic that has to be carefully levered apart, shoving screw drivers against holes with plastic tags sticking through them..then inside, there will be springs, bent bits of brass and plastic moving parts .
if new school ..a micro-switch and and electronic board inside that communicates with the PCM
or spend £13 or there abouts on a brand new one off ebay
Note: two different designs, found on ebay, so do your research.
or another thing
if you've not read the owners manual, about how it operates and under certain circumstances ..wrong gear ..other button pressed, traction control etc .. maybe not meant to function.!
