2.2 Custom 2014 plate with 73,000 miles. Anti-skid and no hi

Postby EEpower » Sat Mar 15, 2025 11:59 am

2.2 Custom 2014 plate with 73,000 miles. Anti-skid and no hill start available and limp mode issues.
I had a full service done a few months ago, new discs on the rear; new pads all around, and a brake fluid change. Ever since then the van goes into limp mode; flashes up the Anti-skid light, and says no hill start available. This only happens now and then and is ok when starting the next time. There are also no recorded error codes on the system.
Any advice would be hugely appreciated. Tia.

With this problem, the usual first item to look at is the ABS wheel sensors, as all these systems are interlocked with each other ..the hill start assist, anti skid. all depend on it, because they use the signal for speed from the wheel sensors.
I think limp mode could be entirely separate problem.
- all are only diagnosed with diagnostic equipment.
which wheel sensor? - To find out more on a modern vehicle. you must know where to look . for that you need a diagnostic scanner tool.

i suggest use forscan

NOTE: you can use forscan to get correct fault codes with proper explanation of them - a generic fault code reader may be somewhat misleading

Here on this site - They recommend "Forscan" which is FREE software that you download to a laptop..you buy the interface cable.
You can join the forscan forum ..again free, to get the software and more answers.

https://forscan.org/forum/

So, you plug it in get the codes and the answers ...if you are still stuck ...you find out a bit more about using forscan from the forscan forum. when you are happy you've tracked the problems down properly and are sure of the results and then come here for more advice on fixing it

Many thanks for taking the time to answer this question.
I have spoken with the garage today and they have tested the sensors and all is good, and nothing is showing up on diagnostic. Looks like its going to be one of those which we can't find.
I have even thought of upgrading to a 2022 model, but a wet belt is something I do not want to have.
Kind Regards.

That's as much as i can say about it in my previous post .

You are now down to, if the garage are using a code reader that is a good one ..or if its down to the body control module "BCM" or the ABS module

As regards a code reader

i suggest use forscan

A few other things i forgot about

under inflated tyres will result in fault --- as then they are a different circumference - so wrong speed signal

and different tyre sizes fitted will result in fault. that means also the difference between low profile and high profile tyres / aspect ratio

Brake pad sensor wiring will throw up the no hill assist and abs light, broken cable somewhere due to being pulled about during pad changes.
There is a thread on here on how to both test and/or bypass the wiring to get rid of this issue forever.

I'll be of no help here, I'm afraid but I've had the same issue!! I don't get the limp mode but I get the abs, anti skid thingy and then finally no hill start! On the next start up they e all usually disappeared, well if not the next, definitely the one after....
Front pads changed and rear sensors is all it's had....haven't been to get it checked as van seems fine but will follow with interest. Due MOT and service in May so will get it checked then

Very frustrating seeing people not use forscan.

"Last night I was walking about in the dark and I hit my nose do hard, I couldn't smell. The doctor told me I hit my nose on an object"

Get forscan!
