Resetting adblue system malfunction message

Postby mudmane » Tue Jan 18, 2022 10:13 pm

The van: 2016 Transit custom 2.0 eco blue 130ps 110,000 miles
Hello all

I had the adblue system malfunction message come on the dash this weekend when on the motorway. Having plugged it into forscan i had the DTC P20EE SCR NOx catalyst efficiency below threshold.

Having reset the codes and going for a few drives the van isn't flashing up any DTC's but the adblue malfunction message remains on the dash with 400 miles until it won't start.

Is there a way to reset this through forscan or does it have to go to the dealership?

My turbo sh*t itself very recently and chucked loads of oil down the exhaust. Now I'm wondering if this is related.

thanks in advance

Hi I have had exactly the same issue I know have this error after turbo had gone. Did you find a solution to the ad blue malfunction or what it was? I’m thinking the same regarding all the oil that has gone down exhaust

Probably has various sensors and injectors contaminated.

i would say your prime culprits are:-

You have this one the nox sensor

measuring the result of the add blue injector this one
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/315931342258?

its not going to be easy ..requiring specialist tools

Think you are going to need a special spanner to get them out ,, because they have been in a hot rusting exhaust...any other will round it off ..

would i think they would look like a brake line spanner or like a lambda socket.

or see the ..highly recommended O'Rileys Autos

on youtube ..he may show you tips and tricks, nothing he cant fix , and specialises in transit exhaust and emission problems

Hi

Thank you for your reply, this does all sound like it could be the problem. I am going to have to get it back into the garage and hope they can sort it.

Much appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Thanks

Hi all. Got a 2017 transit that has exactly the same fault as many others in this post after turbo failure. Did anyone ever get to the bottom of the fault? Many Thanks Dan
