P0335:31-2E Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit

Postby mysticalgandy » Tue May 27, 2025 3:59 pm

I have a Ford Transit Custom 2.2L 270 Eco Tech 2014 (Chain).

I have a poorly van, it stalled and won't restart, cranks fine, only error is "P0335:31-2E Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit"

Changed the Crackshaft Position Sensor, tried 4 different sensors, made sure there is the required spacing / air gap when installing the sensor... no luck.

No signal being received from the sensor on live data test, no RPM being recorded, pick up ring seems to be in place and can be seen moving when manually turning the engine over.

Fuel pump can be heard running when the key is turned and there is fuel flowing through the Schrader / Bleed valve on the main pump housing.

Auto electrician has scoped it, and tested all the connectors and wiring, no joy.

He now thinks it could be the PCM / ECU at fault and not reading the sensor.

Engine turns over by hand and runs on easy start with no rattles from the chain, when it stalled there was no loud bangs or rattles from the chain either.

Is there anything else it could be? Fuel Cut off switch? fuel pump?

ready to give up.

You need the get the circuit diagrams so see where the sensor wires run to. Check continuity down to sensor (it will be a pain) just to check the cable. Maybe wreck one of your sensors and solder long wires to it so you can plug it in where the sensor is and check it all from the engine bay
