Best 'fix' for the alternator rubbing intercooler pipe hole?

Intercooler pipe holed through again thanks to the ridiculous design on the 2.2 custom. Does anyone have a lasting solution?

I was plotting some sort of rounded cap for the alternator nuts, or some sort of outer layer over the pipe when I fit no3... I'm pretty small and even for me getting in to fit this blasted thing is annoying 11 so I'd really like to never do it again (or have to swear at it in a french aire while dislocating my wrist and dropping jubilee clip nuts in my ear while I bodge a patch)

Yes i know of the fault

but i don't own one , so cant help really

the one down the bottom in that pic, I think. It sets off air intake temp warnings and makes strange noises. This is the part - you can see it has a little sock in the middle as a wafty attempt to prevent the alternator nut wearing through the side, but it is only slightly helpful..https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/277342658050

Get some stainless sheet --- baking tray etc from home bargain cheap

fashion say 3 x2 inch .. bend it to fit .. scuff the hose and stainless, glue it on with tiger seal


or get one of their stainless strainers ... build up hose with a piece of this as re-enforcing and tiger seal

note you dont put tiger seal onto greasy surfaces, surface of hose has to be scrubbed clean with isopropyl (some windscreen additives - blue colour are mainly isopropyl)_

cheap so far - its only the tiger seal that is expensive £9.50 ish ebay - does not keep once opened either

Cut a section off old hose slice it down the middle and put it on the bit that fowls either with couple cable ties or a polyurethane sealer/ adhesive like Tiger seal or Sikaflex and as long as you tape up the end of the tiger seal tube it'll keep for a while
