2.2 Turbo Failure, 600 miles after fitting rebuilt engine

I have recently fitted a rebuilt engine to my 2.2 transit after the old one slipped a chain and a friend had a rebuilt one going for cheap. Swap went well, all ancillaries were swapped over from the old block, the only new parts were a clutch/flywheel/slave cylinder, glow plugs and inlet manifold as it was caked in carbon. I changed the injector seals at the same time as well. All learned values reset etc. Since then I’ve put around 500/600 miles on it and now the turbo has gone? Do you think it’s because of something to do with the engine failing before or something I’ve done wrong during reassembly? Any suggestions will be great, I’ll be able to update the post either tomorrow if Christmas doesn’t get too busy or the day after. Thank you, Alfie

There is a filter for the turbo in the front crank shaft main bearing journal.

This has been suspected (meaning no one really knows) as the cause of many turbo failures, it is plastic and falls to bits over time or becomes clogged with neglected oil changes.

Engine has to come out to change it ... as crank has to come out, ...... if it is that ?

could also be the turbo has reached the end of its life, which could be anything from 100,000 miles to 180,000 miles on normal oil changes or more if oil changed at 6000 mile intervals
