2014 Transit Custom 2.2 TDCi – P2539/P0148 intermittent cut

Postby Goundry » Mon Aug 10, 2026 8:51 pm

2014 Transit Custom 2.2 TDCi — intermittent cutting out/no-start. Codes P0148 Fuel Delivery Error, P2539 Low Pressure Fuel System Sensor Circuit and P0230 Fuel Pump Primary Circuit.

Van displayed “Fuel Filter Blocked”, cut out, would start then die and eventually wouldn’t start. Unplugged the sensor on top of the fuel filter housing, cranked it, plugged it back in and it started and drove normally.

Fuel filter and complete housing/sensor were replaced around 500 miles ago. Rail pressure actual/desired look good on live data. Cleared all codes and driven around 7 miles since with none returning.

Has anyone had the same fault, particularly P2539, or know what I should be checking next?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

next time it stops, wallop fuel tank with large rubber mallet .. if it then starts, you have fuel pump in tank problem .. when these fuel pumps begin failing.. they intermittently jam.

all the best.mark

Likely the fuse terminals that feed the fuel pump relay, need closing up.
Common fault,a search should turn up all the info you need.

Thanks very much for the replies lads, really appreciate you taking the time to help. That’s given me a couple of solid things to check rather than just throwing parts at it. I’ll check the pump and those fuse terminals next and update the thread with what I find. Thanks again
