Hi all,
Looking to retrofit cruise control on my BB03 furgon/van and want to get the parts right the first time rather than end up with a wheel where the buttons light up but do nothing.
My van:
2016 Ford Transit Custom
2.0L EcoBlue diesel, 6-speed manual
~178,800 km
Current steering wheel: no cruise buttons (D-pad menu on left, audio on right)
No cruise control indicator or module visible in the dash/cluster
VIN starts WF0YXXTTGYGL... (built Kocaeli, Turkey) — happy to share full VIN by PM if it helps identify the exact spec
What I'm trying to find out:
For this exact model/year, which donor steering wheel + clockspring combo is confirmed to work (part numbers, ideally)?
I've seen posts where FORScan central configuration alone wasn't enough and people had to go module-by-module (BCM/BCMII, PCM, SCCM, IPC) — is that the norm for the Custom, or does it depend on trim?
Common "switch incorrect" fault after fitting a used wheel — is this always a clockspring/switch part number mismatch, or can it be something else (SCCM firmware version, etc.)?
Any working end-to-end writeups specifically for the 2017 Custom (not Connect, not full-size Transit) would be hugely appreciated.
Trying to avoid buying a random eBay wheel and clockspring that turns out to be the wrong variant. Thanks in advance to anyone who's done this on the same generation.
