Air con fan repeatedly going on and off

I have a 2014 custom with the air con fan repeatedly going on then off in cycles of about 5 seconds. It only happens with the air con turned on. The air conditioning is ice cold. Yesterday I had it gassed up so I know it’s full of gas. I had to change the clutch on the pump to get it going. When I took that off it looked burnt out. I now have it working but this annoying on and off problem with the fan. I have tried another fan as I thought it might be a bad resistor but still the same. Has anyone else had this problem? Tia

Which fan?
you have one inside the dash and one in front of the radiator

if radiator fan .. main cause .. the AC pressure switch ,, or the fan relay

You have a relay that is air conditioning clutch relay .. I can see one called F38 .. the picture in the manual shows a fuse for that but names it as a relay in the list .. you work that out, i cant ... i don't know if this fan clutch relay also switches on the radiator fan??

Also the radiator fan / fans have relays

Anyway look at this see if you can make some sense of it

IF YOU FIND A RELAY ,you are going to be swapping a relay with another out of the same fuse box to diagnose it

Some models have two cooling fans at the radiator, others have one fan that has 2 speeds.. so important to pick the right owners manual .

Up until my latest van every vehicle I’ve had with aircon the fan has cut in and out when ticking over in traffic the hotter it was the quicker it came on my 25 reg van built in 24 as soon as you turn the ac on the van runs continuously even in winter when it’s demisting Ford dealership say it’s correct it for me the van running when not up to temperature is stupid

relay is called R10 and is in the engine compartment fuse box

it can be swapped with

R11 Glow plugs.
R12 Fuel pump.
R14 Econetic coolant valve. .. ive no idea what this is ... edit .. its an electric thermostat instead of the regular one .. will cause overheating if not aloud to do its thing - not sure if default is closed or open

this is from one of four manuals up there .. I cant be looking at all four and guessing ..

you are going to end up with codes that need clearing after the tests if removing and swapping these

Update
After going for a run it seems to have settled. Seems it must have needed to go for a run to reset itself after fitting the new ac clutch and radiator.

Doing it again, is there a fan control module

It's the pcm - power train control module .. runs the engine etc .. very expensive to replace and why we go through other stuff first.

My last instruction was: swap R10 relay in engine compartment fuse box with one of those i listed.

Then, if no luck, the pressure switch ( I have a feeling, this may involve draining the refrigerant) i don't know any way of testing this, other than .. a new one.

Do you have two radiator fans or one.... this question is meaningless now but may help me answer further down the line of diagnoses.

The things I have tried are as follows
Fuses and relays
Re gas
Air con clutch change
Thermostat sensor
Air con pressure switch
Different fans (with different resistors)
I have put the fans on another van I have here that has no faults and they all function properly when fitted to the good van.
I have plenty of spares here to try and a couple of vans too. I do work on transits so usually have knowledge on them but this fualt really has got me. I do have a Bcm and ecu kit here so maybe I’ll have to try that next. I just can’t think what else it could possibly be.

I don't know .. this is remote diagnoses on this problem

what possible sensors and controls it has or may have in your ac system
already mentioned - a relay for the fan (its not clear if this runs the clutch as well)
a pressure switch
Evaporator Sensor: Monitors the cooling core under the dashboard. It turns the AC compressor off for a brief moment if the core gets too cold so that it does not freeze into a block of ice.

As well as all this , if you have stop start on the ecoblue models ..it has

an electric pump to push heated coolant through your heater core when is engine is stopped ..
an electric thermostatic valve to isolate the front radiator from from the coolant circuit when stopped

these two things above interact with the AC system.. it may be worth turning stop/start off as it may be this causing problem.

and you need to help me out by stating

It’s a 2014 2.2, no stop start. I have laid under the van and the clutch seems to run as it should. The sensor on the ac I changed was the one that’s on the pipe at the front of the van just behind the bumper and side of radiator area.

Where is the evaporator sensor located?

in the core of the evaporator

listen i'm going on my knowledge picked up from watching a couple of years of youtube videos, which says to me .. that the evaporator core either has one or not .. and some evaporator cores only available with the whole ac box .. and some sensors only available with that box

i see the cores are available on ebay .

. cant actually see a sensor with them or a place for the sensor in most

parts diagrams im having trouble locating it

is this device hanging from it the sensor .. cant really see where and what it goes to , cant see if its part of it.. the other pics in the listing don't show it

note.you also have an outside ambient temperature sensor in the bumper that reacts with the AC

I had exactly same problem after mine had been gassed up again recently. It did for about half an hour then the Aircon doesn't engage at all. I've gone through everything thing and narrowed it down to the ac pump itself. I tested it for resistance and it was zero has far as I could make out with my multi meter. So I'm taking it in to get it plugged in and diagnosed properly. I'll let you know what the outcome is, so it might be relevant to your problem

The power supply that is going to the fan resistor is on then as soon as the fan cuts in I’m loosing the power to the fan resistor. On my van that’s all good the fan will not Even attempt to go with the resistor wire unplugged. I’m wondering if the power supply to the Resistor is being drawn somewhere else as soon as the fan kicks in causing the fan to turn off again once it starts.
