Starting issue

Hi every one did cold compression test today
Number 1 cyl 200psi
Number 2 cyl 200psi
Number 3 cyl 180 psi
Number 4 cyl 220psi
Any idea what they should be thinking they are all low
What results were you guys getting? Thanks

Non of those pressures are good ... not enough to even start it

Should be well over 300 even as much as 380

Engine must be turning over fast on starter .. if it isn't then the pressures will be down, no good doing it with a flat battery or lazy starter.
To be done with all other glow plugs out or injectors out

Or ive even seen people pull out individual injector disconnect wires to injector .. do a compression check on each cylinder with it running .. if your cant even get it started, that test is no good though.

Hi had all glow plugs out and fully charged battery
Wet belt needs doing so going to take cylinder head of for investigation
Going for Ford belts and tensioner
Is aftermarket timing cover ok?

Hmm, don't know if after market cover is good or not .. that's something you'll find out later, no reports here on leaky after market covers.

Original and ford belt is made by DAYCO, and you'll need the oil pump belt too. so they recommend renewing oil sump. cause i think it gets damaged pulling it off ..

there are various belts about with different numbers on them, they were maybe upgraded, cant see you going wrong with one strait from the ford dealers,
ebay .. well you just don't know the number sequence and what you are getting, upgraded or an old one from the early days! .

if they were upgraded or not is speculation .. we simply don't know

Hi all quick update removed cylinder head all exhaust valves leaking
Inlets fine
Seats recut two new exhaust valves all reground
Starts perfect now

There are 2.0 TDI engines from other manufacturers (including Ford itself) with 200,000–300,000 km on the clock, and the exhaust valves are still in perfect condition.
It is absurd that Ford refuses to offer a refund to owners of vehicles with low compression caused by valve seats failing before 200,000 km.

Just taken mine apart for exactly the same reasons 2021@ 35k replaced 8 exhaust valves due to blow by and corrosion. Seats recut. The piston tops on mine were even corroded so they’ve been changed as well.

Blimey that's a lot of work required. Are you doing it yourself or having to pay someone?

Doing it myself luckily I& you want to call it that ! When I took 5h3 head in for the seats re cut the guy informed me he had another 14 to do with exactly the same problem. So to me that is an inherent design fault somewhere

Re-cut -- if the problem is with the metal the seats are made out of it will happen again.
Unless by re-cut .. what is meant is: new valve seats installed and those re-cut .. that's how it's done.
