Installed HID kit DO NOT USE 55w KITS

Postby keeff » Wed Mar 11, 2015 6:55 pm

I called into hids4u last week with my faulty lights and they are very helpful They tested the kit while I waited and replaced the ballasts Picked up a couple of bulbs for the side lights and they look great. Fitted the kit at the weekend and all is working ok at the moment
They said they would have a look at them on the van if I still get trouble with them Mine come on and off with the auto lights and come on before the engine starts I have been driving around with the old bulbs back in and it is a pleasure to get the hids back in.
I will up date if I start getting trouble again.

Do any of the Customs come with Xenon's as standard fit?

The reason I ask, I know on Vauxhall cars and vans there is an issue similar to this, with even canbus compatible hid kits.

The canbus system was expecting a halogen bulb and not the hid I was fitting, of course shutting down etc like what is happening here.

Even after the relay loom, resistors and capacitors - you name it I tried it! The problem persisted

Until I had a look through Vauxcom (similar to Tech2 and along the lines of Ford IDS) I stumbled across and option to change the headlights to AFL - Adaptive Forward Lighting (which incorporates Xenon), with this changed - VOILA!

The end to hours of pulling my hair out looking for a solution.

I've just ordered IDS so I've not used it yet, maybe one of the experienced users could enlighten us to as whether there is a similar option?

It looks like the replacement ballasts they gave me are working ok. I have been turning the lights on and off when using the van and so far no faults coming up and the lights have always come on.
Just got to sort out my fuel tank as I ordered a 95 l tank but we think ford built it with a standard one. I run out of fuel the other day as the gauge plays up when it gets low and even then could only get 82 l in it.

Hi guys need some help with choosing hid kit I know it has to be 35w and 5k which i had in my Mazda but i get stuck between
1-H7 35w Slim ProPlus Xenon HID Conversion Kit
2-H7 35w Ultimate Xenon HID Conversion Kit
3-H7 35w ProPlus Xenon HID Conversion Kit
They are all on hids4u and problem is there is no option for ford transit custom so do i pick any of them because they are all h7 (but will any connection fit custom)because first time when i was ordering i went thru option and picked for car make and this is bit confusing because I do not want to order something that does not fit.
Any help very appreciated.
Many thanks

Not sure but think I had the ultimate kit .i still get trouble with the passenger side not always starting up and getting a warning come up. If I turn on and off they normally come on . I think it is a fault with the kit as I did get the same with only the drivers side when they replaced the ballast for me and none get the other side playing up. I am close to them so will pop back before the dark evenings come in again. I would not be with out then due to the roads I dive in the winter .
I do get a dark sport on each but shows more on passenger side and it is from the shadow caused buy the electrode coming to the front of bulb if you put your hand close to the headlight you will see it. I have mounted the ballast on top of the lights as you can see if you look back in this thread.
They also sell a bulb that looks blue when off it is pure white when on for the side light.

Goliath, is see on these pictures that you split your headlights to paint them black, I tried it myself and found out that I nearly burned the housing and I couldn't get the "glass" off. Could you tell me how you have done it ?
