No it won't , I was asking if it's the hinge not whether the van has powers of self motivation or more specifically if this is part of this hinge / door lark . I'm well versed with the dealers with my first custom ( this is the second )

don't talk to me about transit door hinge problem, im one of the lucky people who work in a ford bodyshop and know these things that well im doing them in my sleep, obviously I have to be carefull what I say as I probably would get into bother. doors on short supply, rear doors don't have delivery date, hinges and check straps are available but cant see this build error finishing any time soon.

Not me

This happened over a month ago but thankfully I had already started the warranty paperwork for the duff door hinge. Caused a bit of damage and I was unable to open door for a month but now all fixed.

Does the door (after repair) still open up so stupid wide? Or is the stop that is fitted a bit shorter.

A few days ago noticed drivers door not closing properly, upon further inspection noticed door scraping against front wing panel. Bought van February 2015 so contacted dealership. Had to take it to be photographed by them and told this is a common issue with all of this generation of transits. Have to wait a month before anything can be done and vehicle off road for four days whilst they do it. Apparantly, they do at least two a week and there are ten other customers in front of me. I'm really unhappy about this. In my opinion the metal work used on new custom transit is just too thin - i can push metal panel in with my thumb next to where the hinge is. This problem also occurs with the passenger door but Ford will not repair in advance of it going, i have to wait for it to go wrong before they will then do anything. Knowing my luck it will go wrong day after warranty runs out!!! Funny, the very first day i got my transit i thought to myself "those door hinges don't look very good" LOL

changing the door cards to ones with a handle cut out in the top like the old Mk7 door cards would halve this problem over night
the design of the interior handle / door card is half the issue, when it starts to go you just cant catch it where as the Mk7 doors were a piece of piss to open and close.

Happened to me over the weekend but it was the passenger door, opened and a gust of wind promptly took hold of it. The next day I realised the door was not shutting correctly but later on I noticed the door was rubbing on the wing so I had a look at these forums only to find it was common fault.
Took it to the local dealer yesterday who referred me to the bodyshop, the guy there was surprised it was not the drivers door seems like he's seen a lot of these.
I was told it was a 3 day job which involves mig welding some new hinges a new check strap and repaint at the moment there is nothing wrong the paint don't understand why it will need doing. I've only had it 5 weeks seems a shame these problems still exist.

If they are welding the hinges then it will need painting, presumably just the inner area/hinge.
