they will usually charge you one hours labour, less if it's done as part of a service or similar

Think ive found a mate of a mate whos got access to IDS at work. Although it doesnt sound like he's to familiar with what im after. Is it simple enough to do once hooked up? Once the rear speakers are enabled does the front/rear fade also activate or does that need turning on seperately.
Is there any other hidden features worth activating whilst we're hooked up?
Cheers

You need to go into module programming, car configuration, down load the current file,
Alter number of speakers from 2 to 4 then upload it back to the van

Not going well this! Local ford dealer saying £60 plus vat but they dont know if they can do it, but i have to pay either way! No other ford dealers near me, noticed a few places mention the ids system is used by ford and mazda. Is it worth me trying local mazda garages or will they be using different software specific to mazda?!
Cheers!

Mazda uses different software, similar, but not the same.

Hi ake

It seems that you are very familiar with IDS. I have a 2015 transit custom Limited DCIV. I want to get the rear speakers activated. Problem is I live in Spain and the Spanish dealer is saying they have never done this. They are reluctant to do the change for me. My basic Spanish doesn't help!!

Is there any chance you could give me a step by step guide on to how to do it. I am quite happy to make a PayPal donation for your time as I realise that this is kind of your line of work.

Many thanks in advance

Thank you sooo much for this. I was able to translate it to the Ford MotorCraft dealer here and they did it for me. Charged me 37 Euros which I dont think is too bad.

Hi, sorry to jump in....

Once this is turned on in IDS did you run cabling or is it already there?

If it's already there, exactly where is it in the DCIV? I have the same model as you and would like to try this...

Many thanks :)

I added rear speakers to my dciv, took it to the ford dealer to get them activated (at that point I'd not connected them) so they gave it a go and couldn't do it.

The technician said if they are like older Fords just wire up the speakers and they head unit recognises them, which I did and it did!

So connect first before going to ford dealer :D

Where are the terminals found exactly in the DCIV? I have some speakers to put in but don't know where in the double cab they should go? Any pics from those who have done a DCIV? Cheers :)

Activating the 4 speakers is only for the stereo and bcm, eg, if you fitted an aftermarket stereo then it wouldn't need doing. :-)

Adding the wires is always going to be possible, either by adding it the factory connection way or directly connecting to the stereo and feeding cables to the back where you want to fit the speakers.
