Door lock removal.

Postby BringTheRain » Mon Jun 20, 2016 8:11 pm

Had this sitting on my desk for some time and with recent thefts in my area decided i should actually fit it!!!!

https://www.tvl-ltd.co.uk/vehicles/ford ... t-cylinder

The issue i have is i have spent around 3-4 HOURS trying to remove the original lock and i just simply cant.

I have been told what to do and how to do it but it simply wont come out.

I have tried everything. In the red rectangle is what i am pushing in.

Am i missing something here....

Thanks

Have you pulled out the retaining clip :?:
Is this any help, or is the Custom lock different :?

I have yeah. Although in the picture it's installed.

I think there is something stopping lock. As its nothing like the videos I have seen on removal.

I've just got mine today. Did yours come with instructions like mine did... or did you lose them. :D

Got the instructions i can push the pin in but it will not remove the lock. I think something else is stopping the complete barrel from turning.

Mine was a bit fiddly to do, I had to turn it clockwise several times before the tab would push in for the lock to come out

FITTED!

Turning clockwise helped as within 2/3 turns the flap was going in just that little further. Who knows why!

Many Thanks

All fitted and secure ( i hope)

More security to come !

What caused you the problem :?:

There are pretty good instructions in my link above, and the only difficult part was pushing in the tab to remove the barrell :?

The bit about the door lever & the door hand. It was not the clearest of instructions. You need a T21 Torque key or driver, not the list of tools they give. No clear instructions on removing the door reflector...
Proper written instructions are based on a person who has no experience of doing such a job. i.e. using a plastic diy scraper or ice scraper to peel back the adhesive on the sound proofing away from the door. Having someone push the outer skin of the door inwards helps you turn the barrel clockwise into position, due to the foam ring taking up space. This kind of thing is very helpful.

I had no trouble with the old spring pin or fitting the solid locking pin on the barrels.

I have the OBD lock box to install next... deep joy. Saying that, it'll probably turn out easier than the door lock. :D

Guys, guys! What's wrong with applying a nice big dollop of silicone kit in the lock?
It's all just to keep the opportunist out of the van. When they find out the lock is been sabotaged beyond their expectations they're just not moving forward in trying to break in.

Because when the electrics fail for whatever reason, I would still like to have a physical lock to let me back in the van
