A Morning @ Vantuner's

Postby seikokid » Thu Jan 05, 2017 12:24 am

Being neighbours has it perks , like days out to Novatech for instance ....

It's been on the cards for a while but family and work can get in the way...

After the time spent last year adjusting and tweaking my map we were able to see the results properly on a classic Dyno

Vids, pics and results below . I believe the PS is 184.4

I'm assuming that's adjusted to a flywheel figure rather than at the wheels, whats the first readout, is that before you had it mapped?

Haha.. of course its not at the wheels! That would be some achievement!

A great result none the less.... the first figure was the first remap and the second was the "honing" or final cut?

Was the difference between the 2 noticeable? Mine is remapped, but i'm sure its a one size fits all file from viezu.... i'd love to have it tweaked and made bespoke for my van.... one day!

Great numbers though, I bet it rides beautifully now. :)

Your both wrong. It's an authentic Dyno Dynamics machine and Measures in imperial hence my metric conversion.
First chart is stock, Second is remapped. Readings are at the wheels

Nice what did it leave the factory as ??
just follow the onscreen instructions and it's fairly idiot proof...trouble is, we keep producing better idiots

Haha... I didn't realise you were euro 6! You'd never see 180 odd at the wheels from a euro 5.

Ouch, might made a mistake there.

Had a hunch that seikokid had a euro 6.

Otherwise it's 155hp and 385Nm.

It is on wheels though? Don't see anything that shows that it is.
The dyno could show at crank.

It's a Euro 5 at the wheels, but i suspect people will insist otherwise. If your in the neighbourhood say hello and see for yourself...
Due it's 30,000 service soon so fresh oil and filters can only bring more fun

160 at the wheels STOCK?

How is that possible when the engine leaves 155 at the crank unmodified?

Yes this is confusing now.... no way can you get 180 at the wheels then. The euro 5 figures stock are at the crank, a 155 will will be roughly around 120's at the wheels. Any remap is only worth 25-35 on this engine with hardware changes, so let's really push it and say Martyn worked some magic and got 50 that's still only 170 at the wheels which without hardware changes isn't possible...

Not that any of the figures matter a sod !! They are just numbers, how does it drive most importantly? I really don't care about numbers.... I have tuned around 8 of my vehicles, the serious ones were done "live" on road.
The others were files supplied to the ECU (like the transits remap from viezu)....... never on a dyno. Unless you know someone (as you do) it's pretty pointless as there are literally hundreds of variables that can be manipulated to massage the figures.

He's deleted the pictures :?

Anyway, I sispect that the confusion is that the measuremare taken at the wheels but the final numbers are a calculation from the roll down test, so they're predicted crank figures.

It's not unusual for a good engine to show over factory quoted powef figures on a good day, right fuel, right barometric pressure, right air temp etc, so the 160 at the crank is by no means unusual.

As for someone saying that these engines are only good for 25-30hp increase, not so long ago some where saying that the 100ps could be mapped to the same figure as the 155ps, make your minds up.

As for plugging in generic maps, anyone who has spent any time with Martyn will know that is just his starting point, he actually understands the subject (unlike most of the 'mappers' in this country) and modifies the map to get the best from each individual van.

Mike - i'm having problems with tapatalk and my hosting site. Here they are...
Seems to be a lot of negativity over this. Also wondering how many of the comments come from actual professionalism or just opinions ?
I'm no tuning expert but i went to see someone who is.

Jolly good saves taking your engine out and putting it on a test machine
Bloke I used to work with had his right arm ripped off by an engine in one of those
