Is there anyway of finding out if there’s any updates to the various modules?

I doubt that Ford will update something that was designed into the system. If you want to improve it then a Audison Bit Ten or similar JL Audio products will give you a very nice sounding system.

But before you do anything, Dynamat the doors.

Thanks Mike, some were suggesting it’s a bug with the software.

Don’t think I’d be brave enough to take the doors apart

TBH, if you're not going to Dynamat the doors, you're wasting your money doing anything to make the system play louder. taking the door cards off isn't difficult.

My personal perfect solution is a Makita DAB site radio placed on the passenger seat and plugged into the 3-pin inverter socket between the seats. Turned up to full-bore. I’ve already had to replace the windscreen and side door glass three times. There’s also a massive distorted bulge where the van’s roof used to be.

Works for me ...

I actually know someone who does that in their van

Shame I’ve moved to DEWALT! The T stak is far too powerful for poor built quality vans like Fords.

Also no inverter as standard anymore :|

So guys, what’s the recommended kit to get some better sound in the van?

The crap standard system is doing my head in so I want to improve it….

So it sounds like:
- new speakers and tweeters?
- dynamat the doors?
- possible amplification of the new door speakers?

It doesn’t have to be super loud but I’d like to be able to turn it up a bit and feel some bass.

Also any guides or recommendations? Thanks!

It would depend on what audio sources you normally use.

I'm assuming that you have played around with the EQ and dropped the mid range whilst boosting the bass/treble?

If you use your mobile (via Bluetooth), you could adjust the EQ in whatever music player you use.

I’ve tried playing with the settings but anything over 18 seems to keep dropping out.

I just use Spotify via CarPlay. My previous connect was way better, disappointed in how poor this system is

The standard system is crap, agreed. I had the same requirements as you I reckon, a bit more volume and bass. And better quality.

- I've swapped out the door speakers and tweeters for Audison APK165 items. Dynamat to doors
- Added a Vibe Powerbox 65.4 amp under passenger seat (takes up very little space)
- Added Eton 6" sub under driver seat

About 600 quids worth I think. Does the job nicely.

Basically yes!

Did you amplify the door speakers too? How did you get the high level inputs? Is there an adapter you used?

Thanks

I didn't do the install myself tbh, a local car audio place did, so I'm not best qualified to answer I'm afraid!

In addition to the above they installed an Alpine 4312 Dual Amp Balancer and a PAC LP7 Output Converter. (it's also got rear speakers installed which prefacelift could be coded to work but Ford removed this option for the facelift I understand)
