Anyone recommend diagnostic tool do dpf regen?

Postby yelsac » Fri Oct 05, 2018 6:53 pm

Hi
As per subject title- Can anyone recommend a diagnostic tool that will definately do a forced regeneration on the diesel particulate filter on a 2014 Transit Custom?
I know the Autel ds808 does but its over £600. I Just wanted to see if anyone had any joy with something cheaper!
I'm asking because I do alot of short journeys, I have constant problems with the dpf as I live on an island with no motorway to be able to do a normal regen.
Any recommendations will be much appreciated
thanks

My 2015 custom does short journeys, it still regens even when I'm just driving along 30mph and in mcds drive thru our anywhere

I hear it about once a month the exhaust sounds hollow.

I have Ford ids clone which will do most things, you'll need 1 that has v96 onwards natively with it though.

i was told the other day if you keep getting dpf faults then their is another issue with the van causing the dpf faults.because even at low mileage around town it should re gen its self :( ,But am not convinced on this advice

My MK7, both Customs and my Connect have done regens in normal use around town, villages etc. Never had a def issue with any of them. I do ignore the shift light and use sensible revs through the mid gears though.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Modified ... 2749.l2649

i bought this elm327 and downloaded forscan software, you can do a static regen using that in service settings mine took about 40 mins to do, you can check soot loads before and after in parameters too.
worth getting your dpf vaporisor checked or whatever its called, i believe they are commonly faulty stopping a regen from working!

Thanks for the info.
Yes I had a new vaprorisor fitted about 6 months ago, but still doesn't seem to do regen on its own GGGrrrrr. I think its because I live on the IOW & most of the time all I do is relatively short journeys.
With regards to this forscan software I've never heard of that before,so you just download the software onto the elm327 is that right? How much does it cost for the software?
thanks again

Hi had same issue even using a diagnostic tool my custom wouldn't do a regeneration turned out to be fuel vaporizer. Have you checked the small fuel pump that feeds the vaporizer? And aso the wiring.
