Brake fitting kit for front and rear pads

Postby wild camper » Wed Oct 17, 2018 11:46 pm

I’ve just ordered front and rear brake pads for a 2017 Custom
The supplier has advised that I need to buy a “brake fitting kit”, it appears to comprise of 8 clips per axle or 4 clips per wheel at an additional cost of £31 for both axles.
All the other vehicles I’ve changed pads on I’ve just used the original pins and clips.
I’ve never changed pads on a Custom before, anyone done it who can advise if new clips are really required
Thanks

Many thanks andz327, they’re the items the supplier wanted to charge extra for.
I can see that the eBay suppliers provide a full kit with everything AND They say they’re original Ford parts
I’ll cancel my order and use EBay, I can wait a few days for delivery.

I fitted pattern pads to my Custom and after a few thousand miles the friction material started delaminating, I took them out and fitted genuine pads front & rear and they come with new shims and wear sensors. I'd never bother with non-genuine pads any more, not worth the aggro for the small cost saving.

This x1000

Genuine parts will always be the best parts to fit. They may cost a little more, but it's worth it IMO.
