Last winter I had a puncture in a tyre off my VW Golf, I had a spare but it was dark and raining so for convenience I used an aerosol can of puncture repair, it worked OK and got me 11 miles to home.
But when I took it to a tyre shop the next morning they wouldn’t repair the puncture. I think it has something to do with the mess and extra effort required to remove the “gunge” and also they can no longer get good adhesion for the patch inside the tyre.
They don’t tell you this on the can!
Also because it was a Winter tyre they recommended that I have both the front tyres replaced, it turned out to be an extremely expensive “convenience “
I found out that only Holts Tyreweld claim that a puncture can be repaired if you use their product.
I checked with a branch of National Tyres and the Manager agreed that they would repair a puncture sealed by Holts Tyre weld. It says on the can that a400ml can will fix up to a 16inch tyre.
I don’t know what brand aerosol Ford supply, but it might be worth checking your kit if you rely on it i.e. you don’t have a spare wheel and tyre
I now carry both
I hope this helps someone
