dashboard gear shift indication

Postby longhair » Mon Dec 31, 2018 5:59 pm

Just wondering how many of you follow the gear shift warning advising you what gear you should be in. I used to, but I found I was always changing back down to a lower gear seconds after being told to change up. OK my fuel consumption may go up but I find the van a lot better and nicer to drive. Is there a way to turn it off completely using the obd or maybe some black magic like pressing pedals like you can do for resetting service lamps and the like. 8)

I just ignore mine but tbh I'm fairly in sync with it. You could turn off the mk7 1, I have a vague feeling it might be possible but I am not confident. Maybe look in the settings on the van.

As a new owner I've been wondering about those shift suggestions.
Following them puts me around 1000-1500rpm for every gear, but even the manual says that the engine should be between 2000 and 3000rpm.
I've also read that because of DPF the engine should be run a bit harder.
Gear suggestions give better fuel economy tough.

I've been looking into using Forscan and I'm sure I read of this being disabled with Forscan, and a quick goggle gives a fiesta tutorial and it should be similar with a Transit.
