adjusting front door hinges

Postby aln101tf » Tue Feb 12, 2019 12:53 pm

2013 tourneo.
Searched this, but only found the usual stuff about heavy doors, long check straps, weak pillars, warranty, oh and lots of wind......

My door is not damaged, it just seems to have dropped a bit and is rubbing the sill at the front corner.
Anyone know how to adjust the door position?
Looks like the hinge position on the door is fixed, so presumeably the hinges are movable on the pillar?
Bolts not very accessible and one looks wierd, so thought it best to ask before I fiddle.

I'd like to know this as well.
Wind pulled my door hard and now they don't close snugly as before.
I was going to take it to body shop but I can't find the time.

Despite what you think, you both have wind damaged vans.

You need to remove front fender to get access to the bolts.

Do you mean the wing?
I'm beginning to realise this is pretty much the only way to get at the bottom hinge.
The bolt heads are too poor to take a spanner with the wing in place.

try pulling the door up when it's open. put your hands under it and yank it up kind of thing.

Might not look like it...but it sounds like bent hinges.
Wind caught mine last year...more of a strong breeze really....door was horrible to open and close.
Bought the upgraded hinges and door check from Ford for about £30 and got coachworks to fit them.
It was a favour for a favour type job so wouldn't know the cost...but they managed to get them done without removing the wing.
I put pics of the new hinges on here somewhere....definitely a heavier hinge than the old ones and a shorter check strap.
Doors perfect now.
Oh....and the hinges come unpainted in bright silver so they will need painted....unless your not fussed.
