Oil warning message

Hi I have a 2016 2.0 custom which I bought new. I had it serviced with an oil change and updates at 16k in August. For the last few weeks the “change engine oil soon” light has been coming on when I start it up. When I phoned ford they said I would need to bring it in for them to look at but probably may needs an oil change! After 8k miles! I used to get 20k between services on my vito. I tried the holding pedals down reset with no success. Anyway I was speaking to a mechanic at a van hire depot the other day and he showed me how to reset it by going into settings where you get the option to cancel the warning. It only says change engine oil soon so I wouldn’t think it is harmful to reset as ford wouldn’t give you this option if it was.

Vitos are a top quality product but i read the other day the latest ones are suffering the same problem as the Custom especially if mostly driven in cities

So the fisherman is correct so a garage or mechanic has to licensed so you can’t just service it yourself and to be a licensed garage or mechanic do you have to be vat registered and a qualified mechanic can not do it as a cash job on the side
