Rapid Battery Drain

Postby Crofts4369 » Fri Jun 21, 2019 10:35 pm

I have a 2016 Transit Custom, that suffers apparent occasional battery drain, and it always follows the same pattern.
The van is stored in a warehouse over night and needs moving forward several feet to load it for the days deliveries. Now, we get in, and it starts fine, with a good strong battery.
The back doors are opened, the interior lights are OFF, and the van is loaded for about half an hour, after which...... the vehicle fails to start with the symptoms of a flat battery. Attaching jump leads to the van causes some hefty sparking, suggesting there is a stiff current draw somewhere. Are there any 'usual suspects' that I should start with?
TIA

Does it click? Sure that’s the sound of a starter motor sticking? Is there anything fitted the the van that’s not standard?
