2014 2.2 tdci 8 seater custom
interior lights have stopped coming on when doors open or when unlocking , they all work as they should when doing each one manually
checked 2 fuses that state interior lighting in manual but they are fine

I had a similar issue - there was a fault with the front-most interior light unit - inside the switch was a bit glitchy, and as a result, somehow, that screwed up all the rest.

I might have some photos somewhere.

Inside that unit, there are some copper tracks, that move the electricity around but also form part of the switching setup. these had all come loose from the surrounding plastic. Once I glued it all back where it should be, all my issues went away.

Id take a look inside each unit and see if anything is all loose and floppy to begin with.

One thing to also try, to see if this might be the cause - try turning each of the ceiling units off fully, with the rest turned on to door activated, and see if any combination makes it all work as it should, this may point to the unit that is turned fully off, as being the one with an issue inside.

tried both of them lights off individually - no joy
took roof light out between driver and front passenger checked connections and circuit they were all ok
im now thinking although central locking all works ok that it may be something do do with that or a faulty sticking relay , if they is a relay for the interior lights I have no idea where its located to check
any idea ?

The switching of the lights by unlocking, or opening doors is handled by the BCM, this earths the unit to turn the light on at the appropriate moment, and fade it out after locking or turning on the engine.

When you switch them manually, you're earthing the unit manually which is why the light works when you do it that way.

I only know this because I have a similar fault with my sons' Focus, which I haven't managed to track down either. The fault seems to be a communications error between the modules and the BCM :?

Have you also tried pulling the front one by the windscreen down to check that?
