Fuel Filter

Postby Garygardener » Fri Jan 10, 2020 10:06 am

65 plate, 2.2LWB LTD Custom 155bhp
bit of a novice on servicing my own vehicle but thought i would give it a go last year!
Changed my oil and filter, found this quite easy but would have been easier with a oil filter removal tool.
air filter was ok too.
fuel filter! this wasnt so easy, bought the fuel filter tool amd took it off ok , but refitting wasnt as straight fwd, had a nightmare trying to push the filter up into housing and then twist back into position, took me ages!! i also filled the filter housing with fuel prior to fitting, (didnt want to get air in the system) is this necessary? as ive just watched a video on you tube from haynes and they didnt but they did turn the ignition on and off a few times before starting
any tips on refitting fuel filter much appreciated
how often should i change oil & Filter? fuel filter? and air filter?

according to my dealer, ford advices to change the fuel filter every 100.000km /60.000miles.

The other maintenance I (oil, filter, airfilter, cabinfilter) I do every 25.000km/yearly (which comes first).

Putting the fuel filter in the housing and filling to the brim with fuel before fitting should be taken as Gospel!

yeah thats what i thought until i saw the video on youtube from Haynes, the way he turned the ignition on and off a few times makes me think its primes the fuel system.

Having been caught twice with a blocked fuel filter and limp mode I now change mine at every 10K miles, along with the oil and filter etc.

I get a genuine Ford service kit and change the oil and filter, fuel and pollen filters every year or 10k miles whichever comes sooner.
