Folding mirrors fault

Postby jinx » Sun Jan 12, 2020 11:14 pm

Hi all, i am just recently having problems with the mirrors not folding in and out. Sometimes they work , othertimes they dont. Not sure if this is coincidence as its only happened since i washed the steps in the front. Does anyone know if there are cables under the plastic in the step area of driver and passenger doors. Thanks in advance.

This may, or may not be relevant, but I've just had the same problem on a 2012 Focus. I turned out to be a faulty motor in the drivers door mirror. Because it wouldn't fold properly, it stopped the other side folding, and stopped the doors locking. A "new" mirror sorted it straight away :)

Thanks for your advice, you dont realise how handy folding mirrors are until you dont have them. For future reference do you know if they can be pushed in manually? I did attempt this but there felt some resistance and was afraid i would end up snapping it off

Just to give an update, the fault is the door wiring loom and as they dont keep them in stock it has to be ordered which means it has to go back in once the loom arrives but in all fairness they gave me a more or less brand new custom for the day and will do the same for next visit :D
