New problem!

Postby tomandroz » Sat Jan 18, 2020 9:38 pm

Hi

Having recovered from my last drama, I now have another problem.... car runs and drives fine now btw except a vibration when either going up hill or under hard acceleration?

Can anyone offer me a starting point to investigate? I would like to try and resolve this one without the assistance of a garage my wallet is still recovering!

As ever any guidance or help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Tom

Hi, does not matter what gear car always has two adults and a heap of children on board! As I said just there when going up hill or toeing it? If this frost lifts I might go and see if there is any movement on driveshafts??

Air filter well blocked? Low on oil?
The manual suggests a few things like you say, a bent or distorted driveshaft, worn inner CV joint, worn intermediate shaft bearing. Have you got a manual, Haynes or Ford?

Hi

No I haven’t probably a sensible purchase? Oil is fine, air filter fine looking more like a drive shaft or bearing? Frost is lifting so will have a fiddle!

Thanks

Check the inboard driveshafts joints. Even if the boots look good, have a good feel of the shaft fit into the inboard joint. shouldnt be any excessive movement.

If it's vibrating when under load only you could also check the clutch and DMF in case you have a problem there.
