Almost 1000rpm idle

Hello.

I noticed something in my van, its just sometimes, really not often when im not moving and im in idle revs are almost in 1k rpm.
I've been told its doing something with dpf, cleaning or something like that. Is it true, is it normal? Thanks

If you don't do many motorway miles then it will still regenerate, it basically increases the revs to get the dpf hot enough to do the regeneration. It adds extra fuel or adblu to the combustion chambers to help this. It also can sound a bit blowy or throaty.
And maybe smell a bit funky.
