As a joiner, I work daily alongside loads of plumbers and Gas Safe lads. Really good ones. Top-notch, time-served blokes who are absolutely great at their jobs. Without exception, they all rock up in vans which are kitted out to carry multiple 3m lengths of 15mm/22mm/28mm copper, plus 3m lengths of 32mm/40mm poly, plus 50m coils of 8mm/10mm microbore/Speedfit/ along with numerous other types of solid or coiled pipework. These (usually quite full) L1H1/L2H1 vans almost always have lockable tubes on roof racks.Their kit (wrenches/grips/spanners, files/abrasives/steel wool, tube cutters, pipe benders, Rothenberger blowtorch, carts of MAP or butane, reels of solder, tubs of flux, clamps, clips, pipe fittings, bottles of solvent-weld, brushes, core drill, cores for boiler flues plus wastes-through-walls, battery combi, augers/spades for pipes through joists, multi for floorboard splits/plasterboard holes, circ for joist notches etc. etc. etc. - plus a bit more weight for the occasional supply-and-fit boiler/WC/sink/shower tray/screen) all weigh 100kg tops.
These lads also (without exception) also run cars for their families. Not a DCIV which has zero room for the always-needed-on-every-job plumbing stuff I mentioned above. They also don't have room for bikes, tents, beers and BBQ's.
No disrespect intended whatsoever - but are you actually a plumber? This forum places great value on posters being genuine and honest. Good luck with your getting your mpg and revs down to your ideal dream level. Genuine tradesmen build things like mpg/insurance/maintenance/PLI/CIS/VAT/other costs-of-sale into either their day rate, or incorporate it as a % to their fixed-cost 'on-price' quotes ..... and therefore don't give a monkeys about whether their van's doing 1mpg or 1000mpg. No disrespect intended as I said.
