What would you do?

Postby qsford » Mon Feb 22, 2021 12:40 am

Hey all,

If (Don't shoot me for this Ford fans!) But I cancelled my VW transporter order because it was delayed from March to June, I can't wait that long.

....So what would you do?

Custom Sport
ICE Pack 25
Bi-Xexnon
£36k inch vat (0% finance)
New 2021 plate

or
Custom Sport (1 year old)
5k on the clock (which seems weird, but the franchise is saying its ex demo)
Ice Pack 25
Blind Sport Info
Park Assist
Plug Socket
£31k no VAT

I'm hesitant to go with the 1 year old because of two reasons
1) its 1 year old and done 5k, how do we know it has not been clocked back?
2) The APR makes is around 4-5k so its like buying new

I really want the blind spot and factory plug. Does anyone know if they can be retrofitted?

Cheers!

Eyup. Not sure if u will get many replies on this, but will tell you what I think.
If you can afford the new one. Get the new one.
You never know what the used one has been through.
Blis is ok, but can't say I'd miss it. The factory invertor is ok, but again you can just get an aftermarket one into the ciggy lighter.
I suspect it can be retrofitted, leads are 3 or 4 months on transits, so don't hesitate or you will miss out.
It's possible I will break, so ford assis will recover you for free if you buy the new one. Service it with ford and they will carry on recovering you if you ever need them.
I'm happy with my sport, but the steering rack broke. I also found most of the tech is annoying, like the van thinking your going to crash when a car is slowing to turn off in front of you. Dash flashes and brakes can be applied!!! Maybe I'm a tailgater lol.
Hope that helps a bit. And welcome. There's some 'characters ' here. :D

I’d swerve the bi-xenon, or do a search here on it, it’s shite!

I wouldn't worry about "clocking". It doesn't really happen anymore as it's too easy to check a vehicles history now it's all digital so uneconomical to do for those that are less than honest. It's being sold from a dealer and at only a year old is unlikely to have had it too rough. Who was the previous registered keeper? If it was the dealership then they're obviously telling the truth. See if you can haggle a bit more as even with your brand spanker, as soon as you sign that dotted line to say it's yours, its only worth what that one year old van is anyway!
I'd also insist on a service of the 1yo van. A little bit early, but as it's ex demo it's probably just pootled around town for prospective buyers.

I don’t know about a easy life for a demo van the local dealership used to lend us one when we had one in for warranty work it was treated worse then a hire van it got the sh@t raged out of it as for clocking it’s easy to do nowadays plug and play and at a year old it’s not going to have much history

I have xenon lights on my 70 plate. Best lights I've had. Early days mind at 1500 miles

Went with the brand new 2021 plate, very happy. The colour is hard to look after so going in for ceramic coating. The xenon are lovely, not sure why people complain? Granted they are not self levelling.

I wish I had the Blind Spot and Plug, anyone know If this can be retrofitted?

Cheers all for the support!

Good for you!
Same colour as mine. So good choice :D
Obviously mines smarter and faster, just saying.
240 plug is about 175 in parts I believe. And can be retrofit.
Blis no, but its only a look over your shoulder, and you don't want to loose habit of that 'life saver' anyway .
Well done!
