2014 Custom rear spring upgrade

Postby kayaknut33 » Mon Feb 22, 2021 7:09 pm

Hi all, I'm new here. I've got a lwb 14 plate custom limited. As a landscaper I'm finding more often that I need to have ton bags dropped in the back, but obviously they sit right over the rear axle and the back sits down like a dog, I was wondering if it was possible to swap out the leaf springs for something more heavy duty?
I've also got an issue with the dab not working properly, I think this may be aerial related and the remote locking plays up

Hi mate and welcome. Can't advise you on the springs I'm afraid - but how about a towbar and a secondhand 1-ton trailer instead? Might be cheaper and more flexible for you - plus when you don't have a bulk bag in the back, it wouldn't feel like you were driving a 4-wheeled, 2-ton paving slab. Just a thought.

All the best

The arse of the van dragging along the ground is its subtle way of telling you to stop overloading it!

And there was me thinking that a transit could carry more than 850kg....I came here for help and advice not sarcasm, if I wanted that I would talk to the wife, she's better at it.

If you want a sensible answer then you need to provide the relevant info you dimwit. If you have a 290 then 850kg EVENLY DISTRIBUTED, two passengers, a full tank of fuel and your sandwiches will almost certainly be overloaded. If you have a 330, you’d be fine, but the fact that your arse is dragging on the floor suggests that you don’t have a 330.

Apologies for the sarcasm, my crystal ball is on holiday

Yo brother, if you're looking for sarcasm you've come to the right place!
People wonder why the forum is quiet, well sarcasm to newbies doesn't help. No wonder people don't hang around.
If your still here, you can upgrade the rear springs, or consider a trailer. 320/40 springs could be got from ebay. But try Jones engineering, they make bespoke springs for reasonable money. Make sure the aerial is an original, but can't help with the central locking. And don't forget you have to thank for wvery comment. Some take offence if they don't get recognition for their helpful or sarcastic comments. Good luck!

Warning, most of the above info is misleading or just downright dangerous. But at least it makes the forum look busy.

And, “Yo brother”, wtf?

No we don’t, we already know that you haven’t got the legs for it, and you don’t even know if you’ve got a MK8 or Custom

Legs for it? Interesting.
How are your girlfriends doing? Are they still helping you with your spelling and punctuation?

I didn’t, I sent you a link to the MK8 Transit drilling positions (which is what you asked for), don’t drill through anything that you shouldn’t because you’re looking at info for the wrong van

If you read properly. You would see I thanked you for the transit drilling positions. For my custom. You must think I'm as stupid as you?

I didn’t send you anything to do with a Custom, I think you’re the one who’s confused. Unless you’d like to point out where I sent you a link for the Custom?
