Well the van is ready to be picked up tomorrow! Amazed they have done it so quickly and as I say the Ford service has been fantastic. I was just curious if the new engine would have had the wet belt modified and if so does anyone know what has changed?

That was quick!

The belt itself wasn't the issue, it was the oil getting diluted (faulty injectors, I think?) and the belt disintegrating as a result.

This is a good video. It’s a bit cloak and dagger but as I understand it it is due to the dpf regeneration process. This is ultimately controlled by injectors but can be caused by a few other conditions. My van was mainly used on motorways so the dpf process should have been effective so yes may have been faulty injectors.

He’s saying that current Transits shouldn’t suffer from oil contamination because they use the 5th injector in the dpf?
