Timing belt inspection

Postby Jcustom » Mon Jun 14, 2021 6:52 pm

Hi
I have booked in my 2017 custom for the 20B44 timing belt inspection recall next week , 110,000 miles and poor servicing before I purchased 8 month ago. Anyone had theres done yet and had belt replaced under recall

My 2018 still says there’s no recall! Did yours say there was on Etis?

Hi...its a bit strange this. On my phone , when checking , it gave the option to put your reg. as well as VIN number. So...the reg No. option shows it as subject to Timing belt inspection recall....but on a PC with only the VIN option , it doesn't. To be sure , i would phone a Ford dealership and ask them to check via Reg . I did , and now got it booked in for next week for recall. Don't rely on Etis and VIN....

Mine was the same - not on ETIS, but phoned them up and got it booked in (2017, 66k) - going in Wednesday, notsure whether to hope it's in perfect nick & doesn't need doing, or that it needs doing & get a free belt change - which might be fine depending on how long they need it for, as the dealer is 45 mins from home & I'm away with work next week

Mine was all done same day , I was told the new belt is a upgraded part but no paperwork supplied or book stamped to prove replacement. Just kept saying it's in there computer system that it has been replaced

My van with a mere 30,000 on the clock was only serviced three weeks ago and whilst they mentioned a slight leak on the timing belt cover for which they quoted £650.35 to fix  , there was no mention of any inspection of the belt. It now transpires there is an outstanding recall and it is going in next week. Thinking I might have to scuff the belt up a bit beforehand  then Ford can pay to fix the bloody leak.

Interested to know how you get on with this mate as mine is low mileage. I wonder if they’re working through the years as it seems to be mostly 2017 years so far

Just been and picked it up and was told it was within spec. It should be really as i've changed the oil and filter 7 times in 37,000 miles. The service manager is led to believe damage is done due to excessive oil dilution and infrequent oil changes.
"Within spec" doesn't fill me with confidence though what can i do?
