Stopping water drenching the ecu...

Postby Matttjuk » Fri Aug 13, 2021 2:53 pm

Hello

Got a 2014 Tourneo custom and water is pissing all over the ecu off the windscreen

I've read a lot of threads on here about the fix for it so I ordered a genuine deflector but I cannot work out how to fit it! Pretty sure it'd the right one for my year tank?

Pics attached of my layout and the part I've bought

Water can and does go down the grill bit In the pics, down a tube into the wheel arch.

But it's also coming out of the corner of the scuttle

I'm either being really stupid or I've got the incorrect part

Cheers

Matt

hi there
hopefully you can share some light on this part did it fix the problem and do you have a part number,i have 2016 custom and are suffering badly with water pouring in over the ecu and connectors in this area really is a ridiculous design and for the vans not to be recalled to have this problem sorted is just so fords attitude of not resolving problems, great money spinner design something that causes faults later on so keep selling spares at high cost.
h
hopefully somebody on here has a cure or knows parts etc that rectify the problem

I think that the tray you have is for the Mk8, not the Custom. There are posts in that section regarding the fitting of it.

I was annoyed by this too, I just put 1mm plastic sheet over it.
Then thought ecus would get hot.

I had the new scuttle and end bits fitted by fords to stop the water swamping the electrical system. It swamps the electrical system even more now. Ford know there’s a problem with the design but won’t do jack about it. They work on the fact that most chuck the vans in after 3 years . Then it hits the second hand market and it ain’t there problem anymore. Good job these vans are cheap or I’d be crying
